Wedding Beauty Preparation Timeline - 1 Month

Holy WOW! You are finally here, the countdown really starts now. I hope you’re full of excitement and trying (and I emphasize on the word “trying”), to keep the stress level low. The month before the wedding is relatively easy in terms of beauty, but here are some things to think about.

Hair Preparation

If you’ve been in contact with your regular hairstylist and have a plan in terms of your hair color - great! Keep up the amazing work and follow the plan! If you haven’t - consider making an appointment with someone to talk about your hair color goals, only if you’re wanting a certain color for your wedding. You’ll want any buffer time if the color does not turn out how you wanted it to!

If you are planning to use hair extensions (of any kind), make sure that’s all planned and ready to go! Meaning, if you have clip-in extensions - make sure they match your natural hair! If they don’t, make an appointment with a hairstylist to get them colored to something similar to your natural hair. It’s also important to get them cut and blended into your natural hair if needed. Some clip-in extensions are quite choppy and if you are planning to have a full down-style look for your wedding, it might be good to get them blended. If you are planning to get extensions done in the salon -make sure to have your appointment set and ready to go before the big day!

Now is also a great time to start weekly hair masks to have beautiful shiny and healthy hair! Our personal favorite is going to be the Wella Fusion Mask! Hands down the absolute best mask we’ve ever used! You instantly get smooth, healthy looking and feeling hair -it’s wild. Repairing damaged hair will allow your style to hold better (think updo -when pinning it won’t break off), and allowing your style to last well into the evening.

Skin PrepAration

Skin prep the month before the wedding is the easiest thing you will have to do. JUST DO NOT USE ANY NEW PRODUCTS. Simple as that, just continue using all the products you currently use for your AM/PM routine. When you start using a new product, you risk having a reaction -and skin is super weird. You may not get a reaction right away but a couple of weeks down the road. The absorption rate for skin layers is rather slow and if you continue using a new product (you might think its all great) -but like I said weeks down the road you can get a breakout.

If you wanted to get a treatment, a hydrafacial would be a great treatment to get. It will give you a nice exfoliation by bringing any lingering gunk from your pores out. I would do it closer to the one month mark then leading into the wedding -as some people do experience “purging.” So you will want to have some time for your skin to heal. It seems counter-intuitive I know, but by getting a hydrafacial done, you can avoid any surprises leading closer to the wedding! If you are looking for a place to get a hydrafacial, I would recommend The Face Foundrie. This salon has one of the better price points for this service (so it won’t break the bank)!

Other beauty tips

Here are some additional things to do leading up to the big day:

  • Drink lots of water! Water = healthy and glowy skin!

  • If you’re planning to do lash extensions, get your appointments set up and plan for a fill a few days before the wedding!

  • Get a good body scrub! Get into the habit of exfoliating your skin for radiant looking skin in photos! I personally love the Eminence Stone Crop body scrub, otherwise any of the Tree Hut Scrubs are great too (my favorite is this Mango one)!
