WHY YOU NEED TO HAVE A TRIAL BEFORE THE BIG DAY

When you do your research for your potential beauty team, you’ll see a lot of us have trials as a part of a package or you can book it separately. So what is a trial exactly? A trial is basically a time where you get together with your hair and makeup artist to do a preview of the look you want for your wedding day. I understand that some companies don’t require you to have a trial, however, I would recommend that you book a trial beforehand.

One of the reasons to have a trial is this allows you to meet the stylist beforehand. This is important because your hair and makeup artist is going to be one of the first vendors you will see on your wedding day (next to your wedding planner, if you have one) and you would want to know that they will bring the right energy for your day. Having an established connection with your hair and makeup artist makes the day that much better!

The second reason would be more for your artist than for you as a client, but I’m sure you can understand the importance of it. When your artist can see you before the big day, this allows your artist to understand your hair or skin texture. This is important because your artist will have a better understanding of what types of products to use on you to ensure longevity and to see if you love the look or not. Not every product will work for each person, so it’s important to take into consideration what type of hair or skin type you are to pick out the products that will work!

The last reason why you should have a trial is that you get to see the overall look for your wedding day. Sometimes when you’re looking on Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration pictures it can get overwhelming, very easily! Having a trial, your artist will be able to talk through each look and help you pick one that can best be achieved with your facial structure or hair texture. If you’re dead set on a specific style, then your artist will be able to talk to you about how to achieve the look. Another bonus to being able to see the overall look is that if you perhaps don’t love it on yourself there is time to adjust the look if needed!

So you can see there are so many benefits of having a trial. I think the most important one of all is that you can see the Pinterest inspiration photo on yourself. Being able to see it translate in real life is so important just because then if you end up just hating the style, there is time to change it! We require trials for all the above reasons to make sure the experience is fun and amazing. I can’t tell you how many times we have adjusted a style slightly after a trial!
